History
But now, the 5,200-acre (21 km) area of Rocky Point is decommissioned, demolished and owned by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. It’s a home to various concrete ruins, downed telephone poles, and radio towers.
This place is known as the Rocky Point Natural Resources Management Area, which lies in the Long Island Central Pine Barrens. And, the 125-mile-long (201 km) Paumanok Path hiking trail starts from the western terminus of the forest, with the eastern terminus at the Montauk Point Light.

Rocky Point High School, one of the district’s schools, ranks #4,614 among national high schools and #379 among New York high schools, according to U.S. News & World Report.
